4-Part Series

This week, we hosted our first Rethinking with Reactiv panel with Fireside at Five - part of a series aimed at reimagining how we utilize our spaces more efficiently in order to maximize resources. We sat down with five leaders in the Denver fitness and wellness community to discuss how we can rethink our models as we pivot into a world post COVID-19. We’ve listed the 5 key takeaways from our discussion.

Five Takeaways:

RE: Thinking Fitness - Reimagining Health & Wellness

1) Embrace the change and expect the industry to look different.

As everything has shifted, so has the way we practice our health and wellness routines. We cannot try to replicate the ways things used to work, instead focus on better way for things to work moving forward.

2) Focus on reducing anxiety and making clients feel comfortable.

Cleaning is an essential part of the "new norm" to make clients feel comfortable re-entering the studio. Ensure your policies and procedures are clearly outlined throughout your facility and be in constant communication with your clients making it simple and easier for them to adapt.

3) There is still a future for virtual workouts.

Virtual workouts allow for flexibility, accessibility, and the ability to reach more people. Social workouts help people remain accountable and push themselves further which makes for a better workout. Both will be a part of this new future.

4) “Community” holds a much deeper meaning.

While gyms and studios have always provided a social aspect and accountability for clients, recent events have allowed practitioners to come together and collaborate; sharing best practices, sharing spaces, and getting creative with their business models. "What does it look like to win as a community?" (Patrick Harrington, Kindness Yoga)

5) Fitness is now more than ever about more than just a workout.

Many providers are taking a more holistic view of fitness - combining the need for clean and virus free spaces with physical fitness and mental wellness, stress reduction, human connection and anxiety release. Services will need to be more focused on addressing all these issues and going beyond just getting a physical workout. Instructor self care is also becoming a topic of discussion - are you in the headspace to give?
