Taking a Rooftop Bar to New Heights
How integrated marketing and cultural positioning elevated Rook into one of Denver’s most sought-after rooftop destinations.
In a district as creatively charged as RiNo, being a rooftop bar isn’t enough. Skyline views might draw first-time guests, but lasting relevance requires something deeper: identity, consistency, and cultural gravity.
Rook had all the right ingredients — panoramic views, a strong and clever brand foundation, a thoughtfully crafted cocktail and food program, design-forward interiors, and a built-in audience through Catbird Hotel. What it lacked was a cohesive marketing and activation strategy to bring those elements together into one unmistakable presence.
The opportunity wasn’t to reinvent Rook; it was to take the strength of what already existed, carve out a clear lane within the RiNo community, and bring the brand’s personality to life across both digital platforms and real-world experiences.
Translating Brand Into Experience
Using Rook’s existing brand framework as our guide, we developed a holistic marketing strategy spanning social media, digital templates, partnerships, influencer collaborations, and on-site activations. The goal was simple: ensure every touchpoint — from an Instagram post to a rooftop event — reflected the same playful, design-forward energy.
Throughout this process, Fireside acted as the strategic quarterback — overseeing the social channels, launching the content strategy, facilitating collaborations, and shaping programming that translated the brand from a concept into a lived experience.
Designing for Sustainability, Not Just Launch
From the beginning, the strategy was designed to outlast our day-to-day involvement.
Alongside managing the social platform’s early growth, we developed a structured content strategy that included digital templates, clear content pillars, and repeatable post formats. This system allowed Fireside to maintain a consistent brand presence while also giving the property team the tools to contribute supplementary content when needed.
As the account matured, that framework made it possible to train the internal team and eventually transition ownership without disrupting the platform’s voice or momentum.
Community partnerships, influencer collaborations, and organic UGC continued to layer authenticity into the mix, ensuring the brand’s presence felt dynamic without becoming operationally complex. The result was a marketing engine designed not just for launch, but for long-term sustainability.
Becoming a Cultural Player, Not Just a BarLaunch
In a district driven by art, music, and community, Rook had the opportunity to step into something bigger than hospitality. Strategic partnerships became the bridge: when The Curio Collective and influencer Aya Graciantia approached Rook to host a BIPOC dinner experience, it marked a pivotal moment. Influencers with a combined 174K following attended and covered the event, expanding Rook’s reach while aligning the brand with meaningful cultural programming, and positioning Rook as the go-to spot for large groups and events. Soon enough, Rook began to feel less like a rooftop bar and more like a platform for community-driven experiences.
The Momentum Launch
With a consistent cadence of daily Stories, Reels and static posts each month, Rook quickly built impression share across Instagram and Facebook. By year-end, the channels reached:
- 7,494 combined followers
- 134K+ combined impressions
- 15.8K video views
- 331% QoQ increase in Instagram engagement rate
More importantly, awareness grew among two critical audiences: RiNo locals and Catbird Hotel guests. The strategy created a clear pathway for neighborhood loyalty while reinforcing Rook as a must-visit amenity for hotel visitors. Visibility became affinity. Affinity became traffic.
Elevation as Strategy Launch
Rook didn’t need louder marketing. It needed alignment.
By translating its brand foundation into a cohesive marketing + activation strategy and intentionally positioning the rooftop within RiNo’s cultural ecosystem, Rook evolved from a rooftop with potential into a destination with gravity.
